To be considered as an adopter you must:
- Be 25 years of age unless you are a veteran.
- Have a fenced yard or agree to daily exercise and/or walks.
- Have identification showing current address and/or phone number.
- Have knowledge and consent of all adults living in household.
- Agree to provide the pet with an indoor/outdoor home and be willing to consider the companion animal as part of the family. We do not agree with outdoor only dogs.
- Be willing and able to invest the time and money required to provide for the training, medical treatment, and proper care for the dog (Estimated minimum cost of a dog is $300-$700 per dog per year).
- Puppies: If you are adopting a puppy, you understand that a good amount of time must be invested to insure your puppy has obedience during the first year. Spending the time during the first year will results and having a wonderful pet for years to come. Like babies, puppies go through a teething stage where they want to bite and chew. If you have young children, they are often seen by the puppy as a toy. This behavior can be modified with time and alternative chew toys.
- Puppies: You will be required to spay or neuter your puppy before 6 months of age at your expense.
- Place personal I.D. on the animal as soon as possible.
- Provide an environment that is safe and secure.
- Be prepared to pay a non-refundable adoption fee, these help to offset the expenses to prepare your new dog for adoption, continue operations to save medical rescue dogs and compliance with Texas laws. Fees can range from $350-$500.
- If transport is required, the transport fee is an additional $300-non-refundable and non negotiable.
- Agree that if for any reason the dog has to be given up, you shall contact Rescue Texas Resources first to return the dog.
