In July 2020, Poppy was at a gas station looking for someone who cared. Not only did nobody care, nobody wanted to acknowledge how hot, thirsty & emaciated she was. Instead, teens were kicking her because she was in their way. Thankfully, one person noticed her. From that moment, Poppy’s survival journey began.
July 2020: A vet said she was near death. She was severely anemic and was extremely close to needing a blood transfusion. She had recently given birth, but sadly, her puppies were never found. She had severe flea infestation, whip worms, round worms and was high heart worm positive. She had sores and a leg injury. Her teeth were worn all the way down. Poppy was dehydrated & defeated.
We nursed Poppy back over a full year. We documented every pee, poop, calorie, and activity. Finding a home for a pittie in Houston is nearly impossible, and they are being euthanized almost daily at the shelters. When we couldn't find a foster, we stayed in a hotel with Poppy!
July 2021: Poppy's foster mom could not imagine life without Poppy, and made it official! Poppy tested negative for heartworms too! Poppy is a sweet, quirky, and healthy dog - living her best life in her furever home!
Poppy's life meant something! Poppy is a Houston Survivor!
