A small shelter in Galveston Texas reached out to us about a little guy they picked up as a stray. His leg was mangled and they did not have the resources to fix his injuries. Their only choice was to euthanize him, unless a rescue could immediately save him. With only a few hours to put a plan in action, we were able to get a volunteer to pick him up and deliver him to an ER. He was very scared and in a great deal of pain.
When Alamo arrived at the ER, he had lost a lot of blood and was in need of a blood transfusion. After his blood transfusion and x-rays, it was determined that his front leg could not be saved. His leg was amputated. He was infested with fleas and intestinal parasites - both were treated. Once healed, Alamo was vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.
Alamo's final medical treatment was for heartworms. He has successfully completed the 6 month process of heartworm treatment!
With all of the neglect and trauma Alamo has lived through, he is an absolute sweetheart. Alamo needs a minute to understand that a human. He's so incredibly sweet and loves human touch.
